BIG IN THE SPOTLIGHT - FEBRUARY

Honored Big Bryan Gingg, Little Brother Javier, and Program Director Sarah Rudd-Lawlor

Long time advocate for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County, Bryan Gingg, was surprised with the Big in the Spotlight honor on Tuesday August 24th, 2010, during their Community Support fundraising Campaign’s kickoff celebration.  Bryan was awarded with a plaque, flowers and kind words from his Little Brother Javier, as well as Program Director Sarah Rudd-Lawlor.

Bryan has served as a volunteer Big Brother for five years, with two different Little Brothers.  His current Little Brother, Javier says that Bryan “pushes him to get [his] grades up” and takes him to fun outings like fishing and sporting events.  Javier also reported that Bryan turns little moments to special memories by “talking about what’s going on in their lives and attending his soccer games.”  The parent of Bryans previous Little Brother says that Bryan helped her son “gain confidence and helped him realize that he can live a full life, despite being in a wheelchair.”

During his thirteen years with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Bryan has helped to raise vital funds through the Bowl for Kids Sake and Community Support Campaigns, served as a Board Member, Program Committee member, helped plan the Annual Holiday Party and recruited volunteers.  Big Brothers Big Sisters is proud to count Bryan as a devoted ambassador of their award winning program.
