A Spotlight on Big Justin and Little Isaiah

This month, we’re spotlighting Little Isaias and Big Justin, who were matched last school year. When Justin arrives, Isaias is always excited to see him and greets him with a big hug. They typically enjoy spending time outside playing soccer with other matches, but they also take the time to sit indoors for creative activities or to chat. Their bond has strengthened rapidly. This is just one example of our excellent school-based program matches!

Art offers a way to process and escape struggles while staying grounded, helping build resilience by creating a safe mental space for reflection and growth.

This October they had a blast decorating pumpkins that California Fresh Grocery Store had generously donated. This heartwarming activity is just one example of how community support makes a difference in our programs, enabling us to create fun and meaningful art experiences for the kids!

Art plays a vital role in our school-based program, offering the children we serve an exciting way to express themselves while building solid and meaningful bonds with their mentors. Our upcoming project is about creativity and sustainability – we’re collecting bottle caps to teach the kids how everyday items can be reused to create a fun art project! If you’d like to contribute, please drop off your bottle caps at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office in San Luis Obispo or call (805) 781-3226.
